The Tris-Acetate Buffer is a buffering agent composed of Tris-base and acetic acid. The combination of these ingredients yields a pH range of 6.0-8.0. This buffer is ideal for requiring a pH slightly above physiological conditions. Often used to support the electrophoresis of nucleic acids on agarose gel and protein electrophoresis employing SDS-PAGE and related blotting techniques.
