Egg yolk Tellurite Emulsion

Composition 30 ml Egg yolk, 64 ml sterile saline and 6 ml of sterile 3.5% potassium tellurite solution/100 ml. Store at 2-8 degree Celsius for short term or at -20 degree Celsius for long term storage.   Sterile  egg yolk tellurite emulsion recommended for the identification of Staphylococcus species.

250 mM Tris, 27 mM KCl, and 1.37 M NaCl, pH 7.4 ± 0.2. Prepared in 18.2 megohms water and filtered through 1-micron filter. To make 1X, dilute 10-fold with DI water and the pH of the 1X should be 7.4 ± 0.2. Store at room temperature.
